SP25206A05 Open impeller is a 5 Vanes Open Impeller for 250 TV SP Vertical spindle slurry pump, the open impeller of slurry pump has vanes that are open on both sides without any protective shroud. As they don’t have any support either side they tend to be weaker, and therefore are typically used in smaller, inexpensive pumps that aren’t operated under significant strain. Whilst they are able to handle a degree of solid content unlike closed impellers, they require a higher NPSH to operate without cavitation, damage and loss of efficiency.
Impeller is a rotating component of a centrifugal pump, which transfers energy from the motor that drives the pump to the fluid being pumped by accelerating the fluid outwards from the center of rotation.
Usually the impeller made of iron, steel, bronze, brass, aluminum or plastic. For Slurry pump impeller normally made of High chrome alloy, elastomer, polyurethane and some other customed. But High chrome alloy and elastomer are the main material for the slurry pumps.
There are Open, Semi Open and Closed impeller. For different conditions, different pumps, there will be different type impellers, but Closed ones are much more widely used. It has high efficiency and power transfer.
For impeller vanes, there are from 2 to 6 quantity for different requirements. More vanes will make it higher efficiency, but also lower passage for solids of slurry pump impeller.
Another data for the Slurry pump impeller is the passage, it will decide the max solid the impeller can pump, so check this with the pump supplier is vert important. Or it may get stuck when you use the pump.

The SP/SPR pump design with either hard metal (SP) or elastomer covered (SPR) components makes it ideal for:
• abrasive and/or corrosive slurries
• large particle sizes
• high density slurries
• continuous or “snore” operation
• heavy duties demanding cantilever shafts
The SP/SPR heavy duty sump pumps are available in various standard lengths to suit common sump depths, for very deep sumps or where high shaft speeds limit the length of the pump, a suction extension pipe can be fitted to the bottom inlet to extend the depth of the pump by up to 2 metres.
Pumping is maintained even when the top inlet is not submerged, thus enabling the level of liquid to be lowered right down to the bottom inlet or the bottom of any suction extension pipe.
To suit special requirements other slurry pump wet ends can be fitted to the standard SP vertical slurry pump dry end.
