The technology behind these SP vertical pumps are intentionally simple: oversized bearings, oversized shafts, high chrome or rubber-lined parts, and a robust integrated platform. The pump is very strong, even including the cast discharge neck of the pump casing itself. Large vane passages on the impeller mean that large rocks or debris can easily pass through the pump, or if this is not desired, upper and lower filters can be used to prevent oversized material from entering the pump.
